Need to Know

Way Too Much Information:

We have plenty of family friendly field-camping (you’re very encouraged to campout overnight and skip the driving – tents are ideal to camp in the tent camping field. There is limited space in a small field designated for Pre-Reserved RVs/Campers/Trailers/Trucks – please contact Ky well in advance to confirm your camper size as space is limited (no RV hookups and please, no tent or car camping in the RV parking or car parking areas). We have somewhat limited onsite parking, so carpooling is very encouraged (no street parking please!) Please maximize vehicles in the field by parking close together, and please back into your spot to help make your exit at night easier if departing.

Several yard carts are available to transport your gear for the short walk from parking to camping. Salt Spring Water Co dispensers are available to refill your water bottle. Friday night movie popcorn included.

Please Plan Ahead to Leave All Pets Safely at Home as unfortunately we cannot accommodate them on the festival grounds, including in the parking, RV parking, and tent camping areas. Vehicles get way too hot to leave an animal inside.

Arrive Friday early afternoon and plan to campout for the weekend. We’ll have several family/kid fun events and ongoing activities, including slack lines, telescopes, ping pong, volleyball, badminton, trampoline, croquet, giant checkers & chess, giant jenga, bocce, horse shoes, soccer, pond swimming and kiddie pools, a quiet play gym tucked away for the little ones and moms or dads, and a water misting station.

Ticket numbers are limited and only available in advance. If you know you’d like to attend it’s recommended that you order your tickets now as most ticket categories sell out 🙂

In the spirit of retaining/encouraging positive family and community connections for everyone attending, please feel welcome to selectively invite your close and respectful/responsible friends/family. Please use discretion when sharing news of the event so that we can continue to build on the connected origins of our Co-Op Preschool Family BBQ that started back in 2010. This will also help ensure that we can continue to enjoy this annual little SSI family community event with the kind support from our neighbours, hopefully for years to come.

You are welcome to invite your close and respectful/responsible friends/family by inviting them on the facebook invitation page at www.facebook.com/CranFestSSI, or for non-facebook friends and family you can share the link to this Cranfest.ca website.

Please Plan to Bring: sunscreen, refillable water bottles (please no glass containers – barefoot kids abound!), camping gear, a cooler with a Potluck Dinner dish, refreshments and some grillable foods, potluck plates & cutlery (we have washup sinks available), an old lightweight loveseat couch/chair to setup in the stage area for the outdoor movie or lounging (we also have a buncha old Fritz Movie Theatre chairs available), water squirters, umbrella/shade thing & flashlight. Bring raingear if needed, and swimgear/towel for a Saturday/Sunday morning hop in the pond or jaunt down to the ocean, where you can also grab a coffee and a bite from Off The Hook Restaurant. A tent and sleeping bag/sleeping pad would be most excellent to throw in the car for just-in-case and make it super easy to stay over in our tent camping field.

And bring your favourite Rock! We will have rock painting activities for the kids (and adults too) and we’ll also have a big canvas for a community painting project as well.

We do love animals, but once again, please plan ahead to leave all pets at home. We have a couple/few dogs living here who help cleanup food scraps from the ground, and sometimes also from unattended food on tables/chairs, and occasionally even from cars with open windows – just ask John about his whole pie gone story – best keep those car windows rolled up 🙂

This is an event designed to help raise our kids together in community by fostering and modeling family friendly respectful behaviour – play and stay in grace! Attendees of the event accept all responsibility and liabilities for their actions, and by attending agree to be responsible for their family’s behaviour and to conduct themselves appropriately, which includes no drinking and driving. Please respect one another, our kids, and our neighbourhood community. Quiet time on the festival grounds and adjacent roads at 1:00am is strictly enforced.

Thank you for helping to make this a fun and enjoyably sustainable event, we hope you’re able to join us at the farm for this year’s mid-summer full moon!
